Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer?
At CWP, we provide both photo and video services for dancers, families, and corporate clients. This includes headshots, class videos, creative dance films, event coverage, graduation shoots, proposals, and more. If none of the packages on the Services page match exactly what you’re looking for, feel free to reach out through the Contact page with details about your project and we can create something tailored to your needs.
Where are you based, and do you travel for shoots?
I’m based in Manhattan, New York City, and regularly work with a trusted team of collaborators in the area. I’m available for local projects as well as travel bookings, depending on the needs of your shoot. If your project is outside NYC, feel free to include the location details in your inquiry so we can plan accordingly.
How far in advance should I book a shoot?
For most shoots, booking at least one week in advance is recommended to ensure availability. For larger or more involved projects—such as creative dance films—I suggest booking 2–4 weeks ahead so there’s enough time for pre-production planning, including rehearsals, shot planning, and creative direction. If you need last-minute photo or video services, feel free to reach out and I’ll do my best to fit you in. There are no additional fees for last-minute bookings.
What is required to secure a booking?
To reserve your date, a non-refundable deposit is required once project details are confirmed. Most bookings require a 50% deposit, while larger or more involved productions may require a higher percentage due to pre-production time and scheduling commitments. Your date is officially secured once the deposit has been received.
What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel my shoot?
Deposits are non-refundable. Rescheduling is allowed with at least 48 hours notice and is subject to availability. Requests made within 48 hours of the scheduled shoot may require a new deposit. Cancellations made within 48 hours may also be subject to a cancellation fee depending on the scale of the project.
How do I get started or book a session?
You can get started by reviewing the Services page. If you find a package that fits your needs, head over to the Contact page and include which package you’re interested in along with details about your shoot. If none of the listed packages match what you’re looking for, feel free to send a detailed inquiry describing your project—such as timing, location, whether you need photo or video, creative ideas, and any other relevant information—so we can tailor something specifically for you.
When will I receive my photos or final video?
Turnaround time for most projects is approximately 2–3 weeks. Larger or more complex productions that require extended post-production may take longer depending on the scope of the project. If you have a specific deadline, feel free to mention it when booking and I’ll do my best to accommodate.
Do you help with creative direction or concept planning?
Yes. Both Alexandra (co-owner) and I are professional dancers with years of industry experience, and we’re happy to assist with creative direction if you’d like input. We can help with camera blocking, movement staging, shot concepts, lighting ideas, timing with music, and overall visual storytelling. Whether you already have a vision or want collaborative guidance, we’re here to help bring your idea to life.
Do you require a contract for bookings?
Yes. All projects require a signed contract that outlines the scope of the project and agreed-upon terms. This ensures clarity, protection, and a smooth experience for both you as the client and for us throughout the process.
Do you provide raw footage or unedited photos?
Raw footage and unedited photos are not typically included with standard packages. If you’d like to purchase the copyright and receive the raw files, this can be arranged for an additional fee. Copyright buyouts are generally priced at approximately 2–3× the project rate, though final pricing depends on the scope of the project and will be provided through a separate custom quote.
What should I wear or prepare for my shoot?
We recommend wearing whatever makes you feel confident and like your best self. In general, it’s best to avoid wearing colors that match the backdrop (for example, white on a white background or blue on blue), but we’re always happy to offer styling suggestions if you’d like guidance before your shoot.
What happens if the shoot runs over the scheduled time?
If we happen to run slightly over time while shooting on location, that’s usually no problem—especially if we’re capturing great shots and the schedule allows it. However, for sessions booked in rented studios or time-restricted locations, we do need to stay on schedule. If a client arrives late, that time is unfortunately forfeited, as studio and booking times cannot be extended. We always recommend arriving early so you have time to settle in, warm up, and be fully ready when your session begins.
